Are you interested in making our community a better place for young people? Do you have an interest in becoming more involved in local government? The Joint Youth Commission (JYC) is looking for new members, particularly for a Village of Lansing representative and an at-large member (can be from Village of Lansing or Cayuga Heights or Town of Ithaca or Caroline).
The JYC is committed to offering a variety of youth programs in our community prioritizing career-readiness (first time employment, employment training, career exploration, apprenticeships) and/or youth development and life skills. The JYC serves youth who reside in the Town of Ithaca, Town of Caroline, Village of Lansing and Village of Cayuga Heights. We meet to oversee youth programs which receive funding from the state and these local municipalities via performing observations of programming, reviewing program reports, evaluating applications, and participating in program presentations. The JYC meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. via Zoom, with one to two in-person meetings per year.
